How to Increase Your Chances of Having Twins

Mothers do not have the choice when they are going to have a single or multiple pregnancies. However, there is a way to increase the chances of having one. Most people consider having a baby is a joy in the lives of the couple but much more so when they are having twins or multiples. There are some ways to be considered to increase the odds of having twins. Here are some tips to follow if you want to conceive twins the natural way:

1. Observe your body processes. Monitor the female cycle of reproduction so that you will know the proper time for sexual intercourse. This increases the awareness of having sex when the woman is fertile increasing the chance of conceiving a baby or twins.

2. Study your family history. A mother who has a family history of having fraternal twins is most likely to conceive twins on her own.

3. Take note of the foods to be eaten. Cassava is a type of root crop or yam that is found to increase ovulation. In a region in Africa, where cassava is a staple food, women have the highest rate of having had twins than anywhere in the world. Drinking milk and eating beef also increases the odds of conceiving twins. The natural properties of milk are thought to stimulate the ovaries and encourage the production of multiple eggs for conception. However, eating a lot of healthy foods for optimum nutrition thereby increases the chances of the twins to reach full term. A good supply of nutrients is what the body needs to conceive and nourish multiple babies.

4. Take supplements like folic acid. Folic acid taken at least one month before conception has been shown to increase the likelihood of having twins. Folic acid is taken on a daily dose since this is important for any healthy pregnancy for the absorption of Iron needed to form hemoglobin, a component of red blood cells.

5. Breastfeed your infant. Fertile women who are breastfeeding increase their chances of producing twins so for nursing mothers who want to have twins, continue to nurse your infant or toddler through breastfeeding.

6. Gain weight. Women with higher fat percentages or those who are a little overweight are more likely to have twins.

7. Plan and try to conceive twins when you are in your 30s or early 40s. Women who are already in these age bracket are the ones more likely to have twins.

Picking the Best Twin Strollers Or Best Double Strollers

Let's face it, picking the best twin stroller is one of the biggest gear decisions a twin mommy must make. A tandem twin stroller is designed with one seat in front of the other, and these are handy when you are navigating narrow areas. A double stroller may seem a little bit big for a couple with a new baby, although a double stroller is as well the wonderful gift for parents with a young child and a new baby. If you have twins, or two children who are both of stroller age, a twin baby stroller will be a godsend whenever you want to travel to the mall or the park.

Tandems may also be heavier to push and navigate because of their length. A twin stroller can have dual reclining seats, making them suitable for newborns to older children. Tandem pushchairs offer the classic side-by-side design as well as the more recent front-to-back arrangement. Various wheel positions incorporated in the makes have enhanced the way you may manoeuvre them. Tandem pushchairs can use the old side by side layout or the innovative front and back seats. You can get around more easily thanks to innovative wheel placement features.

Again, different mothers will prefer different settings and styles, be sure to really test as many as you can before parting with more money. Again, this style reduces the width of your twin pushchair, which makes it much easier to get around, but it does increase the length of the pushchair. Most people would agree that this is much easier to get around with than a double width buggy, so the additional length isn't really an issue.

Parent reviews of lower quality models abound with complaints about limited durability and breaking parts. Many parents expressed how they wished they had paid more money to purchase a better quality stroller in the first place, especially since double and twin strollers take the extra burden of single strollers.

A twin stroller has a lot of practical characteristics. A very good stroller should be made with good-looking, durable materials that are comfortable for kids. A very good double stroller will come with a harness that keeps save the kids from any jolt along the way. Some other aspects will make life for the parents even easier when using the stroller.

How to Stop Breastfeeding Quickly

"Congratulations, you have the job. We would like for you to start work a week from Monday." Receiving such a telephone call is music to the ears of anyone searching for a job. For a mother nursing an infant or toddler, being the recipient of such news would likely be equally welcomed. But, now she has to find a way of stopping her baby from nursing. Simply put she has to find a way to stop breastfeeding quickly.

Part of motherhood is finding solutions to problems such as this. Mothers have a number of options such as obtaining a breast pump. In using a pump, a mother can fill milk bottles with her milk each night before work, and have ready for the next day. By doing this, she could insure her baby has access to her breast milk, filled with nutrition, while she is at work.

This is one way to stop breastfeeding her baby, but continue to meet the nutritional needs. By pumping her breast the night before, or the next morning, she has preserved a part of herself for her baby. She may also lessen the pain of sore nipples, which becomes very important if she is nursing twins.

If a nursing mother has been using the herbal supplement "fenugreek", she will likely have increased her milk production. This is often done when nursing twins, or an infant and a toddler during the same period. An increase in milk production satisfies both hungry little stomachs. The increased milk production becomes a problem that lingers on for a while, when nursing is quickly terminated.

Weight gain and loss are an issue for mothers. Pounds gained during pregnancy tend to resist removal when they are no longer needed. These pounds can increase when mothers us herbs or prescriptions to increase their natural milk supply. This increase in supply also brings an increase in breast size.

In the example used, taking a new job and needing to suddenly alter the feeding habits of an infant or child could force the mother into action. She would not only pump her breast to supply the milk for her child, but to remove the discomfort of filled breast. Therefore, if a drastic change is expected, gradually ending stimulation may not be a bad idea.

In the past, most mothers were home with their children and few changes were necessary beyond normal care for their families. The mother's breast was the primary source of food for the newborn, and cow's or goat's milk to the toddler. Milk did not come from factories.

In today's hustle and hassle world, change and changes come quickly. These may not be to the liking of mother or child, but are essential to maintaining a certain lifestyle. In an age of instant everything, the bond between mother and child remains solid, if the mother has the opportunity to continue breastfeeding.

Millions of mothers have faced and met the challenge of having to stop breastfeeding quickly. Accepting and making accommodations for the discomforts and inconveniences of such a requirement is no small matter. Regardless of the reason to make a quick change, if done smoothly, and lovingly, end results are usually desired.

Diaper Pricing Pitfalls - How Do I Know If I Have a Good Deal?

Diapers are confusing. They come in almost uncountable varieties, brands, styles and more. Most brands have at least two or three different types of disposable diapers - for example, Pampers has Cruisers, Baby Dry, Swaddlers and Sensitive. After you weed through the type, you buy a package of diapers, including; convenience packs, economy packs, jumbo packs, bulk packs, jumbo box, value box, economy box... What is worse is that many places who sell diapers will actually sell up to 10 to 15 different package styles of the same style of diaper. An example of this is Diapers.com sells 11 different packages (not sizes, packages) of Pampers, Size 3 diapers, of which there are 6 different options of purchasing Pampers Cruisers. Now the purpose of an online store is to give the customer variety, but grocery stores are not much better. A recent trip to Target gave the author the option of purchasing 16 different types of Pampers, of which there were six different package quantities of Pampers Cruisers.

So, how do you make sense out of all this? Well, generally, it is true that the largest package is the best deal. Back to Diapers.com and their Cruisers, the largest package ranges in price per diaper of $0.2687 for size three to $0.4299 for size 6. However, buying just a slightly smaller quantity only increases your price per diaper by $0.0170 (size 3) to $0.0048 (size 6). In essence, there is almost no difference in prices, except that, based on average diapers used in a specific stage, the price savings from size 3 to size 6 will save you $145 over the time your child is in diapers.

Why would you buy a pack for $3 less when you can get more? The answer is simple, and that is in the risk of having unused diapers. For example, assuming again specific averages of time spent in a specific size, buying the package that has more diapers will create 308 unused diapers, while the smaller package will only leave you with 112 unused diapers. Meaning, if you buy the bigger package, you will spend $100.37 on diapers that would not go to use, versus only $39.30. However, this means that you are buying two extra packages of the largest size, and one full extra package of the smaller size.

So, is the answer to buy smaller packages? Smaller packages do not offer better pricing, although, some pricing is decent, especially if you are not able to spend $45 a pop for the biggest packages. In fact, when looking at packages priced at $34.99, the price per diaper was only $0.3016 to $0.4860 for size 3 and size 6 respectively. This means there is only a per diaper price difference of $0.06 to $0.08. This does add up though, and from the cheapest price to this one means that overall, you would spend an extra $286 on diapers. However, when looking at two other packages, one sells for $16.99 and another for $24.99, this skews the pricing. Both offer near identical pricing, except for a key difference, the package sold for $16.99 in sizes 4,5,6 is actually cheaper, by roughly $0.02 to $0.03 per diaper. The $16.99 packages offer a better deal than the more expensive package, except for size 3, which is only $0.005 per diaper higher. However, buying either of these two packages routinely will still cost $487 more than buying the cheapest diapers.

Finally, the worst offender is the "convenience" package. Even on diapers.com, where the site is supposed to offer some of the best prices on diapers - which it does for the most part - will ultimately break your budget. At $11.29 per package, this only saves you roughly $5.00 per package over the $16.99 pack, but, and this is a huge but, the price per diaper increases dramatically $.10 to $.14 per diaper more than the cheapest package. This creates an overall extra cost of $786 (based on average diaper use).

The final way to compare diapers is to look at the package that is the best deal and then figure out what the savings are versus the cheaper package. For example, the best deal (in size 3) is $42.99 for 160 diapers. Compare this to the packages at $24.49, $34.99 and $11.29 that have 76, 116 and 31 diapers respectively. This means, that when you buy any of the following, you are actually spending $9.29, $5.28 and $15.30 less buying the biggest package over the convenience packages.

Keep in mind that the previous discussion only concerns diapers from one size, at one store, and that store is a discount store that prides itself on offering the best prices. When buying diapers at a local store, the pricing changes dramatically.

The database used shows [1] that there are substantial price differences in diapers. The average lowest cost per diaper is $0.22, and the highest average cost is $.51. Therefore, this means you would spend over $2,025.88 extra on diapers. If you have twins, triplets or quads, you might as well multiply this by that number, which is a decent used car, or a down payment on a new house. To demonstrate the difference in product prices, a comparison of the price difference by brand, type, size and the lowest and highest prices. The price differences range from a mere $0.04 per diaper to $0.37 per diaper. This means that again, based on that 7,000 figure, there is a potential of paying nearly $2,570 more for diapers. Even at $0.04 per diaper though, based on 7,000 diapers, you are spending $280 more on diapers. Of course, the average price difference in the database was $0.15 per diaper, or $1,057.75. The final thing to note is that the pricing database does not list sale prices, but only the regular prices. In addition, the database does not record "convenience" packages, or other items that are clearly a bad deal.

Lastly, buying diapers on sale or by using coupons can further decrease the cost per diaper by $0.05 to sometimes $0.10 or more. This adds up quickly, and can decrease your costs dramatically. Just saving $0.05 per diaper average, on the lowest prices (on average from the database), could mean paying only $910 for your baby's diapers. This is a stark contrast to the average highest price, which would mean you would pay (on average) $0.39 per diaper or $2,701.91.

[1]This compares only Huggies, Pampers and Luvs, and in the common sizes. In addition, the author removed" Warehouse" store packages, along with preemie and newborn sizes to illustrate an apples-to-apples comparison.

Twin Prams - Ten Frequently Asked Questions

Buying a twin buggy can be tricky. As you look at the many different twin prams/buggies on offer, you will probably need answers to at least some of the frequently asked questions addressed by this article.

1. What is the difference between twin prams, twin strollers, twin buggies and twin pushchairs?

The names have come to mean different things than they used to, and different terms are used depending on where you are. Here in the UK, the terms "twin pram", twin buggy" or "twin pushchair" are used more-or-less interchangeably, but the term "twin stroller" is less common. A "pram" used to be a wheeled baby bed, but the term is now used to describe more upright transport too. "Twin" is used for both of the two main types of twin pushchair: side-by-side and tandem (one child behind the other).

2. Should I buy a tandem or side-by-side twin buggy?

Several models of both types of twin pram are sold, with some parents preferring one type and some the other. The side-by-side models allow your children to communicate and interact with each other, but are much wider and can therefore be harder to get in and out of shops. On the other hand the tandem prams are narrower and easier to handle but do not allow your children to socialise with one another.

3. Where can you buy twin prams?

There are basically three types of retailer where you can buy twin prams. You can go down the traditional route and visit a department store; you can visit a specialist baby store (if you are lucky enough to have one nearby); or, and this is increasingly common, you can visit a specialist on-line shop where a wealth of information is available at the click of a mouse.

4. Are there any twin prams that take car seats of any brand?

On the whole, each manufacturer makes car seats to fit their own prams, although there are some exceptions. If you want something that really is universal and will carry any car seat, you want to look for a car seat carrier. This is basically a frame that will accept any car seat. Twin universal car seat carriers are rare, but the "Snap-N-Go Double 1305TW" by Baby Trend is one example.

5. Can a twin buggy be fitted with a buggy board at the back for a toddler to stand on?

Yes, some buggy boards fit some twin buggies. You need to be careful because compatibility is not universal. A combination that works is a "Cheeky Rascals" buggy board fitted to Graco twin prams.

6. Many twin prams have seat covers that don't come off. How can I clean them?

The best option is to fit a set of detachable seat covers, but if you cannot do this, first of all brush off any debris and major dirt, then dampen a cloth with mild soap and water and just wipe down until the seats are clean. Don't soak the seats and don't use any detergent that could act as an irritant.

7. Does anyone make a twin buggy that's suitable for jogging with?

Yes, there are several models of jogging stroller that are twin models, produced by manufacturers such as Schwinn and InStep. You will get quite a workout jogging with twins!

8. With some buggies, you can reverse the seats so your child is facing you. Can you do this with a twin pushchair?

Yes, you can buy twin prams where the seat configuration is totally flexible and you can have one or both children facing you. These models tend to be towards the higher end of the market and are therefore not the cheapest.

9. Can you buy a twin buggy that separates into two singles?

The best approach is actually to get two singles and buy a set of pushchair connectors. In the UK, "Prince Lionheart" is one brand of connector. Remember that two connected single pushchairs are wider than a twin "side-by-side" pushchair.

10. Can twin prams be gate-checked at the airport?

This is a difficult question to answer definitively because each airline has different rules and they keep changing. A friend of mine who worked as cabin crew for many years said that his airline allowed twin prams to be checked at the gate, but the best bet is to contact the airline before you book.

Jogging Stroller Travel System

If you are looking for a jogging stroller travel system, it is an efficient strolling system for parents who have children under the age of twenty two months old.  They are made for little babies that are too young to lift up their head.  Babies need support at such a young age and owning a travel system will benefit both the baby and mother.

Not all jogging strollers are capable of being a travel system, most of your strollers on the market for runners are catered to older children.  To retrieve your child in and out of the car can be risky, since babies are so fragile.  The design of a travel system is simple.  You can secure in place the base that gets strapped into the seat by the seat belt.  When you are ready  to put your child into the car its as easy as snapping your child carrier into the base.  When you are ready to pull them out all you have to do is unsnap it out of the base and re snap it into the stroller.  The in and out movement doesn't make the baby uncomfortable, the baby will stay in his comfort zone and will not wake up, they will be padded and secured in the seat belt that comes with the carrier. Using these strolling systems really makes it easy for the parents. The child as he grows will eventually be put in a regular car seat.

There are other alternatives to the carrier.  Now on the market there are bassinets that can be attached to a jogging stroller, but they are not as efficient as a travel system but they are sold as an accessory and will fit most jogging strollers.

Jogging strollers are made for running, but running with a newborn may not be the best method for strolling.  Since the child is prone to injury it is better to have the child walked,  initially at least for the first 22 months, then a time progresses and the child is strong enough to handle the road and you should be able to walk faster and even jog as the baby grows. Most jogging strollers are used as a walking stroller because of the smooth ride they offer. The large wheels really make a difference in the ride.

Buying a stroller is an investment, like buying a car they should be reliable, efficient and long lasting in return they will provide years of service. Jogging Stroller travel systems are well worth the money, because they will make the transition from car to the stroller very easy and will pose less risk for the baby.

Having Twins - Is it Really So Hard?

When you tell somebody that you are expecting twins, you will likely receive an answer like this: Oh! Twins! That's lot of work. Good luck!

But is it really so hard? In this article I will try to answer that question.

Having twins is not easy in the first days, but having a single child is not easy also, especially if he or she is your first baby. The key point is to keep everything organized, writing down who eat at what hour, the time you changed diapers to each one, and other things you consider important.

Another important point is that the man has to help. He has no choice with twins. He must take turns with his wife to feed, change clothes and diapers, bath, and take them out in the strollers.

But with this two aspects covered, having twins should be a wonderful experience.

In addition, twins can represent less work than having two twins of different ages.

First of all, two non twins require two pregnancies and two different periods of time where you sleep few hours.

Also, when they grow up, they will have different interests and activities. Twins will like similar activities, and can share most of the friends. When you go to the doctor, you can take them together to the same doctor at the same time, because the examinations will be the same.

On the other hand, the economic implications should be considered. Although it seems you will have to spend much more when you are having twins, it is not completely true.

Of course, at first you will have to buy two items of everything, strollers, beds, cribs, as time passes you will realize that you can save money. There are lots of places where you can receive a discount if you buy for twins; you celebrate both birthdays on the same day and place, saving a lot of money.

In conclusion, having twins is not an easy task, but it is not the end of the world. With a good organization and enough help twins will result a wonderful experience.

Other People's Junk

This time last week, I was sitting in my oldest daughter's new flat. I was helping her get settled in a bit. When she moved in, the room had an old double bed frame. She had borrowed a couple of twins mattresses from us, but what she really, REALLY wanted was a nice futon. Since she has just a studio on the ground floor, she wanted somewhere that her friends could sit when they came over. But also a nice place to sleep. We looked at all the discount websites. But the one she wanted most was almost £300...much more than her budget. What she could get for the hundred pounds or so that she could afford was not a good selection.

So I asked her to give me a few days to check out charity shops, Freecycle and just look around. A pleasant surprise was the following advert that I found on our Islington council's swap exchange:

Free to anyone who wants to collect it, we have a futon in a pine finish. The frame is in very good condition. The cushion/mattress is white and the padding is still pretty good although the cover could do with a clean. It's only ever been used as an incidental sofa/bed but over the years various spillages have marked it. A zip runs all the way down the back so I guess the cover could be removed and washed, although I've never tried myself. We don't have room for it anymore but it seems a shame to throw it out, so if you want it, it's yours.

I emailed and it was still available. We arranged to pick it up this evening, but when we arrived my jaws almost dropped open: it was the EXACT one she wanted. The mattress cover needs a wash or she may use the hundred pounds in her budget to purchase a really nice one. My vote went for using that money to purchase material and the two of us making a couple of them. No matter which option she chooses, I cannot tell you how excited I was to be able to help her out like this...at a time when we are watching every pence. And a special thanks to our angel, Graham, who choose to take the time to re-use this wonderful futon.

Some of you may think...that was lucky. So let me tell you about my other find last week. As I was taking my younger daughter to nursery, I noticed a large clear plastic bag of toys near our bin. I especially noticed the large foam number puzzle on top. Of course, I knew better than to stop and draw her attention to it. But after I dropped her at school, I stopped to explore...and discovered not just the wonderful puzzle but HUNDREDS of pounds worth of Barbie's and accessories. The biggest find was the extremely rare pregnant Midge doll. My older daughter obviously is too old for Barbie and my younger one is really too young just yet. I did something a tad bold: I shared my fetish/find with my neighbour. I was a tad reluctant, but I knocked and explained about the stuff. I was reluctant because how do you say...I was going through the trash and guess what I found. Turns out, she thought it was great and now her grand-daughters are absolutely delighted with their 'new' Barbie's, especially the pregnant one that none of their friends have. In the past, I 'saved' a Little Tikes kitchen set that would have cost close to a hundred pounds.

My point is that...one person's trash is the top of another person's wish list. So before you toss something, check to see if your council has a Swap Exchange or register with Freecycle. Other options include donating it to charity shops, having a yard/car boot sale and like me offering it to friends (I will do another post sometime about how much of my daughter's clothes and toys come this way). Just think you could be the answer to someone's prayer...just like Graham was tonight.

Personalized Baby Blanket - The Best Gift for New Born Babies

Having a newborn baby is considered the greatest news in life for most of the people. Honestly speaking, purchasing presents for babies brings a lot of joy to both the babies' parents as well as the gift givers. What is the best gift you can present to your friends who have just got their little prince or princess?

For me, I would highly recommend a personalized baby blanket. This blanket helps to keep the baby warm and healthy through cold days and nights. It also allows you to include the baby's name, your own signature or personal message on the large surface area. Furthermore, this gift can be kept or passed down to the next generation in the future.

Is it hard to get a personalized baby blanket? Do you need to spend a lot of time looking for one?

A blanket made of woven cotton with satin lining on its edge can be a good choice.

LAMY have been a leading pens manufacturer since 1930. For LAMY form follows function and multiple designs in the LAMY pen range have won awards such as the 2000 and the Safari, and numerous styles have become so popular they have been produced continuously since their inception.

Originally released in 1966, the LAMY 2000 is still in production today, the latest addition to the 2000 range is the Lamy 2000 Titanium ballpoint, a beautifully finished, heavy, perfectly weighted ballpoint. It is the only Lamy fountain pen that is piston filled so will only take bottle ink. This however is overcome by the fact that it really does hold a lot of ink in the body. The Lamy 2000 has a flexible 14-Kt gold nib which is super smooth to write with. The 2000 design was influenced by the Bauhaus and continues to be popular forty years after being introduced. As well as the fountain pen the Lamy 2000 is available as a ballpoint pen, rollerball, mechanical pencil and multi function - 4x colour pen.

The LAMY Safari has also stood the test of time and is popular amongst both people who are new to fountain pens and seasoned writers who want an easy to use every day pen.

Lamy pens are really well designed with a minimalistic yet desirable quality that only people who own LAMY pens can understand. If you are looking for superb quality and something just that little bit different then Lamy are the pens for you.

Baby Shower Gifts - Multiple Choices

The basic idea behind organizing party for the expectant mother is to arrange different kind of items for her in the form of baby shower gifts. Of course, pregnancy celebration is also an important aspect of such parties. After the child's birth, the mother shall require many small items like diapers, feeding bottles, bibs, oils, lotions, powder, toys and so on for the baby to properly look after. If we give such items to the expectant mother in the form of lovely gifts, it takes considerable stress off her mind regarding impending pecuniary responsibilities.

It Is Okay To Get Some Help

If you are about to attend a such party and find it difficult to make a choice regarding baby shower gifts do not hesitate to get help. It is in fact prudent to consult the expectant mother's mother, sister, cousin, or a close friend as to what kind of baby gifts she would prefer to have. You can even ask the mom-to-be straight out regarding her choice. It is better to consult than end up giving useless gifts. If you feel too hesitant, you can log on to Internet. There are a number of sites offering excellent suggestions for gifts.

If you yourself are the host of the party, you can inquire from the mom-to-be or her mother regarding her choice gifts. And that you can indicate the suggested gifts in the baby shower invitations themselves. This would be of great help to guests to buy the right sort of gifts. Also if you have a particular gift in mind but its cost is beyond what you can afford, you can contact some other guests and buy that particular gift jointly.

Here are a few suggested gifts that you can consider giving the expectant mother.

Gifts Of General Utility For Babies

Under this category, you can gift products like blankets, diapers, bibs, socks etc., or you can go for powders, lotions, soaps, bottles, bottle brushes, breast pumps, feeding spoons, dishes, towels, comforters, pads etc. for the baby. Such gifts are most useful to the mom-to-be.

Toys

Stuffed animals like teddy bears, pandas, piggy banks, teething toys, musical toys etc. You can even consider music CDs and books etc. for the babies under this category. These are the kind of baby shower gifts that you could gift along with other items like in a gift basket, diaper cake etc.

Expensive Gifts

If your budget permits and you intend to give costly gifts to the expectant mother, you may consider buying strollers, prams, bassinets, car seats, swing, gift certificate for baby pictures, US Govt. bonds for the baby and things like that. If it happens to be a baby shower in a typically Christian household, you can gift the Christening outfit.

This is not to imply that you need to give only expensive gifts. If you happen to be cash strapped, or in financially tight position, you still have time at hand to gift to the mom-to-be. You can write coupons mentioning '3-hour baby sitting for a week,' 'house-cleaning for a week,' and something like that and give it to the expecting mother. She would be more than grateful for your free service as mothers with newborns are badly in need of help with work.

There are endless options when it comes to baby shower gifts for the mom-to-be, just make the correct choice.

Strollers - Which Kind is Best?

There are so many different types of strollers out there it is hard to know what kind is right. Do you get something lightweight or heavier, an umbrella stroller or a jogging stroller? Well, here is a basic list of the different types of baby strollers.

Umbrella Stroller

An umbrella stroller has curved double handles and they fold up easily and compactly, like an umbrella; hence the name. These are the smallest and lightest baby strollers available. They can have a cloth or vinyl seat on a basic frame with swivel wheels. Some offer features such as a canopy and a storage basket. This is a great stroller for short trips where you don't need to bring a lot of stuff with you. But beware; they are not as sturdy as other strollers and don't offer the same safety features. They are also not meant for children less than 6 months or children unable to sit unassisted in an upright position.

Lightweight Strollers

Lightweight strollers are mid-sized strollers that can be very basic or come with many features. There is an abundant selection of lightweight strollers, so make sure you know what your needs are before you begin to shop around.

Lightweight strollers are meant for basic baby transportation like shopping, walking on paved sidewalks, etc. They are not meant for all terrain, running, or jogging. These strollers are more comfortable and practical than umbrella strollers and there is a huge selection of models and styles. There are lots of them that come with many different practical features such as a canopy, cup holders and extra storage space. Many of them may work with an infant car seat, meaning you can put the car seat in the stroller and they have good durability.

Travel System Stroller

Stroller travel systems are the ultimate in convenience for a parent with a newborn because they include the car seat, stroller, and a car seat base. They are the combination of a good-sized stroller, with an infant carrier that buckles in and out. If you are planning on only buying one stroller, this would be great because they work from birth to toddlerhood. They also have many features available like a cup holder and extra storage space. However, be aware that the weight is considered too heavy by some and the lower quality of some of these may lead you to buy something else after your baby has outgrown their infant car seat. They are also not suitable for rough terrain, running, or jogging.

Jogging and All-Terrain Strollers

These strollers are heavy duty strollers that can come with many features. More and more parents are using jogging strollers to get out of the house and exercise. A true jogging stroller is meant for serious running and has 3 large inflatable tires, with a fixed front tire. Jogging strollers are built for speed, not handling. Trying to use them for other activities such as shopping may lead to frustration and disappointment.

All-Terrain Strollers

Which are also called sport strollers or sport utility strollers, are great for walking on or off paved roads. They are very durable and can handle most terrains. They also can fit through most doorways and are pretty easy to use. They can be difficult to turn if the front wheel doesn't swivel, so you may want one with a front wheel that has the ability to turn.

Double Strollers

These strollers are great for multiple kids. Depending on the type of double stroller you get, some can accommodate an infant car seat. They can have many features and the high quality ones are pretty easy to maneuver. On the other hand, they are quite bulky and harder to carry around.

You just need to decide what you will be using the stroller for most and what features you would like. I would make a list of the most important things that you want in a stroller and go from there. You also have to realize that you might not be able to get a stroller with all the features that you want, so decide what is most important to you and your family.

Double Buggy Review - Cosatto You 2 Twin

The Cosatto You 2 Twin Pushchair's versatility makes it a good choice for parents who value practicality and function. The baby stroller is light and easy to maneouvre, good looking, a breeze to push, and complete with accessories. Very fashionable and fun great for the trendy yet practical parents.

Cosatto You 2 Twin Pushchair: The Pros

This double pushchair is suitable from birth because it fully reclines, and each seat can hold a child up to 15 kg (about 3 years old). Because of its features, this isn't just limited to twins but also to kids of varying age. So yes you can use this pushchair to accommodate your toddler and your newborn which is pretty darn handy.

Feedback from users are mostly favourable. Many parents who have written reviews of the You 2 Twin Pushchair agreed that it's comfortable, lightweight, easily stowed away, easy to maneuver, and offers a smooth ride for the babies. Some mothers also remarked how relatively light it is compared to other twin pushchairs.

Most side-by-side pushchairs available in the market will not fit through normal-sized doors. The Cosatto You 2 twin Pushchair however has a width of 75 cm so it won't be a problem when you need to go through many standard-sized doors.

For parents with big to medium sized cars, there's no hassle in fitting the twin pushchair. The back support can recline to up to 4 positions, and the calf support is adjustable to 2 positions.

The You 2 Twin is a complete system. Parents enjoy the benefit of saving a lot of money when they purchase the baby stroller. The Cosatto You 2 Twin baby stroller comes with: raincover, 2 thermo insulated bottle bags, 2 matching footmuffs, 2 head supports, 2 chest pads and 2 hoods with a viewing window.

Cosatto You 2 Twin Buggy: The Cons

The biggest problem that one can expect is that most twin pushchairs are bulky and will not fit in a car seat. Same problem holds true for the You 2 Twin. The versatility and adjustable features are not present, but this is to be expected as said earlier most twin pushchairs are limited in this way.

You will need both hands to recline the seat positions and in folding the pushchair.

Of course, with it being a double buggy, if you live in an upstairs flat you might struggle taking this pushchair up and down the stairs particularly if your stairs are narrow.

Conclusion

The Cosatto You 2 Twin is one of those double pushchairs that consistently got raving reviews from parents who bought them. Utterly convenient, easy to use, and surprisingly light and compact, what's not to like about it? If you have twins or you already have a toddler and expecting another baby soon, we highly recommend this twin pushchair.

Baby Stroller Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before You Buy

Buying a baby stroller these days can be very difficult, but if you're armed with a little information, your experience can be quite smooth.

The first thing you need to know is you don't have to spend a lot of money on buying a baby stroller. There are a large number of quality, inexpensive, good looking options on the market. Of course, you can spend up to and over a thousand dollars on the stroller, with all the accessories and doo-dads if you wish. But your baby isn't going to know the difference. Riding in a sub-100 dollar baby stroller isn't going to make them feel any worse than if they are riding in the top-of-the-line Italian designed Euro-stroller.

That isn't to say that the expensive options are useless. Many top-end brand name strollers like Stokke, Bugaboo, Quinny, Uppa Baby and others do provide a quality ride. Fashionable, well-thought-out designs constructed with the latest materials combine to make a stroller that will last you and your baby for a very long time. And rolling around with the latest high-fashion stroller does feel good sometimes.

So whatever your preference, or what ever your pocketbook will allow, you need to sit down and think about what kind of baby stroller you really need. The first question you'll need to answer is how many babies are you having. Don't laugh. There are stroller options for twins, triplets, and even quadruplets. However, the larger the number of kids you'll be putting in the stroller, the fewer the options you will have when buying a stroller. If your answer to this question is "one" then you've got the widest range of options.

The next question you'll need to ask yourself is how many kids will be riding on the stroller. Wait, isn't that the same question? Not exactly. If you plan to have your newborn and your toddler both ride in the stroller, then you may still be looking at a double stroller instead of the standard stroller. You can also have the option of the sit-and-stand stroller, where the youngest child will ride in the main stroller seat, while the older child will stand on a small ledge provided at the back of the stroller, safely tucked between you and the stroller.

Now that you've got that part down, you need to start thinking about the stroller options. What options? Well, for starters; sunshade, cup holders (for you and baby), 5-point harness, restraining bar or not, bassinet or no bassinet, ease of folding, weight, extendable handle, etc. You get the picture. The list quickly grows, and soon you'll throw up your hands in frustration. Relax. The easiest thing to do is decide on a budget, figure out what you really will need, and start shopping from there.

And remember; pretty much every choice you make as far as a baby stroller goes will be a good one. These days, everything is safe. It's just what is convenient to you, what matches your lifestyle, and what you think is a good value. Congratulations, and good luck on buying your new baby stroller.

Sandals - A Simple, Comfortable Shoe With a Long History

Sandals were the very first shoes ever to grace human feet. In fact, while we might think that perhaps it was the ancient Greeks who first wore sandals, they actually go all the way back to the Ice Age, 5,000,000 years ago, while the first people were still wearing animal skins. These basic leather sandals protected the feet of our Stone Aged ancestors from sharp rocks and thorns.

Even 15,000 years ago, during the Paleolithic period, there were rock paintings depicting people wearing sandals. Of course, these were only the most basic leather sandals, and they wore away quickly. It wasn't until the thong sandal design came into play by the Ancient Egyptians that things really started getting practical. They made their sandals primarily out of papyrus, palm leaves, and even rawhide and wood. Wooden sandals came about in India soon after, and China and Japan introduced rice straw sandals. South American populations were using sisal plant twine.

Sandals are still very popular today, with hiking sandals, flip flops, polo sport sandals, and lots of different women's sandals and men's sandals. Strangely enough, with all of the different fashions over time, sandals weren't really considered a fashion statement though, until the twentieth century. This development can mostly be credited to the glamour of Hollywood, especially when it came to ladies' sandals.

Today's sandals are designed for just about every purpose, including fashion. Exercise sandals have truly taken off in popularity, as have "dress" sandals that can be worn with even the most formal evening gown. They're built for hiking, comfort, walking, beaches, and even sandals that look quite uncomfortable to walk in, but are appealing to look at. It may be supposed, then, that beauty of a sandal - as with everything else in fashion and practicality - is in the eye of the beholder.

Sports Theme Serving Trays? What a Fan-tastic Idea

Once you have picked your food line up for the game picking what to serve it on is the next step. Don't think that this step - or using any trays is not important. Go ahead serve those baked beans, dips and salsa on paper plates. One spill in on the floor and I will bet your toast when your spouse gets home. If that doesn't motivate you think of this. A big plate of salsa and chips gets soggy and slides onto your remote control and fries it, and not on the game channel!

Trays and platters are for the bulky foods. Trays tend to be shallower working well with foods like hot dogs, hamburgers and BBQ. These foods don't drip or slide so a deeper serving choice is not essential. A platter being slighty deeper than a tray works well with foods like veggies, and other bulk foods. Hybrids may also be found for the in between foods that might need a dip or spread. This can be brought right to the game. Individual servings can then be put into bowls by the guests.

How much fun can it be to serve up your food from a platter right into your very own personal bowl? Everybody gets what they want, when they want it in a manageable portion. Face it your party fans are going to jump up and down. A lot. How about a baseball mitt shaped bowl, a football bowl or a football field tray? How cool is that?

We haven't forgotten about the race or NASCAR fans! Checkered flag serving trays will put you in the lead and pull out a win at your race theme party. While you are at it add some race party picks to your "mixed beverage". What the heck, why not go all out for the checkered flag with themed race party supplies. Top it off with a checkered flag baseball cap.

There you have it. Add these serving ideas to the rest of your sports party and you will certainly start your own fan following. All you need now is the win!

With a jogging baby stroller, your child will not only feel comfortable, but will be safe as well. What is the Best Double Jogging Stroller?

After having children, several things that were once on the priority list are often put on the back-burner. Priorities definitely change after having kids, but that does not mean that we must give up all the things that we once enjoy and love. To me, running is what I had always love and enjoy, I have always been a runner and do not plan to give that up.

When my twins were born, I assumed that my running days were over. Juggling all the chores and work, I hardly even had time to slow down. That was when one of my friends pointed me towards jogging strollers. She told me about how they are design with a runner preference and the child safety in mind. They come equipped with special wheels and shock absorbers that can withstand bumpy roads and terrains.

I loved the idea and was very eager to find out myself. So, that very weekend, I went shopping for a stroller. As soon as I went onto this "adventure" I was bombarded with choices. There were so many choices that I got very overwhelmed.

So, instead of wasting my time trying every one out - I talked to a sales-woman to get some suggestions. She really knew what she was talking about. She was well versed in the many brands and varieties of jogging strollers available, and once she knew that I needed a double stroller, she was sure what I needed. She recommended the BOB jogging stroller. She said it is very solid in construction, has extra padding on the seat and large wheels for stability. That sound like a perfect jogging stroller.

Another great feature is the ease of pushing while running with the BOB stroller. When you think of strollers, you get an image of some bulky, awkward device, but that is not what BOB stroller feels like. It is light yet sturdy design makes jogging with a stroller so much easier.

Eddie Bauer Offers More Than Outdoor Gear

Eddie Bauer has been around for a long time. The company has expanded for about eighty-six years now and has come to be something to rely on. The Eddie Bauer baby is sure to get the same satisfaction and durability from a line of baby merchandise as it does any of the other adult casual outdoor gear it derives its name. Eddie Bauer first started his business in 1920. The company (or man) gets its reputation from the development of down outerwear.

Some people want to make it easier for themselves by choosing a brand that is reliable and features more than one item in their product line. If you are one of those people you might be interested in the Eddie Bauer stroller or an Eddie Bauer car seat for your child. The Eddie Bauer Euro Travel System- Ashford stroller is equipped for an infant car seat that is removable. Both stroller and car seat are lightweight and easy to manage. The structure of the stroller and its amenities are what I call “cozy.” The removable infant car seat is rear facing and LATCH equipped for children up to 22lbs. With this duo-system, in the early months of your child’s life you have the use of a stroller and a car seat that work interchangeably.

If you have twins or more than one small child, Eddie Bauer sells a compact and cozy All-Terrain Tandem stroller. This stroller boasts space and amenities such as a removable tray with juice box holder and bottle bag on the canopy. For mom or dad’s convenience, there is an extra tray on the handle. . Keep in mind when you buy the Ashford stroller that while the stroller that after the first year, or once your child reaches a peak weight, he/she can no longer ride in a rear facing car seat. It will then be time to look for a new car seat.

The good news is that the Eddie Bauer car seat does not end with the Ashford duo-system stroller above. Eddie Bauer sells a nice selection of great car seats. Do you want to make it really simple with something that will serve your child from infancy to school age? The Alpha Omega Deluxe 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat is an awesome choice. This seat converts from a rear-facing car seat to a forward facing booster seat that will accommodate a child up to 100lbs! It has an easy adjustable backrest and there is no rethreading of the harness. It is LATCH compatible.

Eddie Bauer also sells several styles of car seats that are booster seats. You can choose from three booster seats by Eddie Bauer. The most practical booster seat, the Summit High Back, comes with amazing versatility with a myriad of adjustments and conversions. It can handle a child up to 100 lbs. There is no need for rethreading the harness with this car seat. It has several recline capabilities and accommodates small and older children alike. It is very practical for growing families. And finally, the regular Eddie Bauer High Back Booster Seat and Perforated Leather High Back Booster are both of the very few booster seats that use both LATCH and safety belts. These two booster seats, unlike the Summit High Back, require rethreading while adjusting the harness. Both can accommodate any size child 22-80lbs.

The Mountain Buggy Duo Reviewed

The Mountain Buggy Duo is a luxurious double pushchair offering everything that an active, growing family needs. Mountain Buggy are renowned for their ultra practical and durable all terrain pushchairs and their double stroller doesn't disappoint. It provides the same excellent off road ride as its single cousin as well as being a flexible and versatile double buggy. With its high tensile aluminium frame it's also both lightweight and highly durable and sturdy.

Both of the seat units are suitable from birth right up to 5 years and you can convert the pushchair to a pram for either twins or one baby by attaching either one or two single carrycot units, or the delightful double carrycot unit, which allows your twins to stay close and enjoy their journeys together.

Each seat, complete with a 5 point safety harness and generous padding, reclines independently, from upright to flat and has its own sun canopy, so you can ensure both of your children are completely comfortable. And the wipe clean fabric means you don't need to worry about all the little spills and messes that babies inevitably create. Another handy little feature is the pocket on the back of the seat unit for storing essential bits and bobs.

One of the major advantages of the Mountain Buggy double is its small size - fully assembled it's only 73cm in width, so it fits comfortably through a standard doorway and can be easily manoeuvred around shop aisles. It also has a quick and simple two step folding mechanism, with a fold lock, so it's easy to transport and put together on the go.

The ride you get with the Mountain Buggy twin is exactly what you would expect from a Mountain Buggy. Despite the added weight of an additional seat unit and infant the pushchair is light and easy to push; the rear wheel suspension and pneumatic tyres give you a smooth and steady ride and the lockable swivelling front wheels offer the flexibility to tackle both rough ground and pavements comfortably.

The Mountain Buggy double stroller really lives up to the reputation of the single, with the added bonus of being a great double pushchair in its own right. As a high quality, versatile all terrain pram and pushchair system that will last your family from birth right up until 5 years of age the Mountain Buggy Duo is a great investment.

Adopting a Baby - Useful Adoption Advice For Your Adoption Process

After you have decided on adopting a baby, the next step is to go through a home study which is actually a series of interviews and home visits by the social workers. This home study assessment is what many potential adoptive parents fear most. It is not that they have hidden skeletons in their closets but because they have no idea what to expect from these series of assessments. As such, it is essential that before you actually put in the adoption form, you should seek out some adoption advice first.

Adopting a baby is not a simple process and it requires a lot of financial as well as mental preparations. You can seek out such vital adoption advice either from online sites or from books in the library. You can talk to your family members first before discussing with social workers or adoption agencies about the process that you would need to go through. So what exactly are social workers looking for when they conduct interviews and home visits with you? This article will help you to better understand what home study is all about.

Household Income

Rest assured that the social workers are not looking for millionaire adoptive parents so you do not have to feel uncomfortable when they enquire details about your household income. They just need to make very sure that your household income is sufficient to feed an extra mouth or two.

Background of Family

It may be helpful for you to be prepared that the social workers are going to probe right into your family affairs during the interviews. The questions that they ask might be very embarrassing as they are keen in finding out about your relationships with your parents, other siblings as well as how you had spent your childhood.

If you are applying for an adoption with your spouse, they will question you about your relationship right from the beginning of your courtship days to your after marriage life including issues like your sexual relationships! They will also want to know how well you can handle failures and to share experiences about your lives together.

It might all seem very intimating but if you understand that they are doing careful checks so as to ensure that the children do not get placed in the wrong families, you will be able accept and tolerate the awkward situations.

Status of Relationship

If you and your spouse are adopting a baby as a couple, the social workers would want to know how strong your relationship is. They are interested in finding out if the two of you are able to communicate well with each other, whether you discussed before you make any decisions and how you solve problems together. This is to ensure that your adopted child is placed in a safe environment, free from any potential violence or abuse.

On the other hand, if you are adopting a baby as a single parent, you will be questioned about your social life and how you intend to incorporate time for your child into your busy schedule since you will have to work and look after your child on your own. It might help if you are able to get strong family support such as having a grandparent to look after your adopted child while you are at work.

Whether you are Mentally and Physically Healthy

Another important aspect that the social worker will want to find out about is your physical, mental and psychological stability. All members in your immediate family will have to send in reports that all of you are not suffering from any infectious diseases or from any mental problems. This is to ensure that your adopted child is entering a safe and loving family.

There are also other minor aspects that the social workers would want to find out, such as your religion, the safety aspect of your neighbourhood, as well as your daily routine. No doubts, some of these questions might sound embarrassing and intruding but bear in mind that this is to ensure that the child is placed into a suitable family that will love and protect him/her in future.

As mentioned above, if you have seek adoption advice prior to the adoption application, you will be better prepared and will co-operate well with the social workers. We had gone through the whole process and we both agree that knowing what is expected had actually helped us to face the home study assessments without too much stress. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you should be very honest to the social workers.

5 Tips For Beginning Joggers

Jogging is an outstanding exercise. It offers so many benefits, from an excellent way to get into shape, to losing weight, to having some alone time for reflection and introspection. Let's not forget it can be a way of meeting some very interesting people. It is also a very inexpensive way to do all of the above.

You can get started for the cost of a good pair of running shoes. It takes about 30 minutes to get an excellent workout. With all those benefits you might just want to go out and run 10 miles before you finish reading this article. I would suggest you finish reading these tips first:

1. Before you even begin your running regime it is critically important that you have the right shoes for your feet. There are hundreds of different designs, types and styles for you to choose from. It is important that you choose functionality over appearance. After all, just because the shoe looks good doesn't mean it will feel good, or support your feet as needed. Go shopping and check out what is available and pick a good running shoe that is comfortable and fits your feet comfortably.

2. Start out with baby steps. If you jump right in without knowing what you are really getting into you may hurt yourself. If you are injured that will delay the benefits you were looking for, as well as the possibility of becoming disillusioned and stopping before you have even begun. Set some small goals initially and work your way up from there.

3. It is also important that you consider safety while you are running. I do not want to imply any will happen to you, but as you know an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Consider letting someone know which route you will be running and an estimate of when you will return. Carry your cell phone and some id with you. Run where there are other people around if at all possible. Depending on where you are running, get to know the rules for pedestrians. I live in the country and running on a gravel road in the opposite direction of traffic is safer, so consider your situation and adjust accordingly.

4. It is also important to listen to your body. Things do happen, like blisters, sores, and other type of injuries. Take care of yourself and don't push through the pain. No need to be macho. If your body sends you a signal listen to it and react accordingly. It might also be good to carry a water bottle with you since dehydration is no fun.

5. Get motivated! Perhaps you can bring along an iPod or walkman and load in some inspiring music or a motivational talk. It is important to keep encouraging yourself since after a few weeks or months you may be wondering why you are doing this anyway. There was an initial goal: perhaps it was a New Year's Resolution, some advice you got from your doctor or that wedding dress you want to fit into. Whatever the reason is it is important to keep it in your mind. It would also be great if you could make it fun. If you have a goal and it is fun then you will be motivated to keep doing what you are doing.

There are so many benefits to running that they could fill up dozens more articles - and it will. Remember every journey starts with the first step. In this case it will be that first jog down your driveway. Here's to your happy jogging experience - may you run for your health and have fun doing it.
